When Water Dries the Mouth inquires into the Divine in religion, sexuality, ritual, and sex. While investigating the corrosive and subversive powers of institutionalized religion, this piece draws upon the complicated legacies of Queer, Black, and African Indigenous expressions of/toward salvation.
Commissioned by Gibney Dance and Dixon Place. Evening-length commission by Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance of When Water Dries the Mouth/Suite Prayers.
